# What your front desk knows

> Your front desk answers from your business records, your website, your online shop and anything you write for it. Here's how to teach it, and how it stays up to date.

Your front desk only answers from what it has been given. **Front desk → Knowledge** shows everything it knows, in four parts.

## From your business

Your services and prices, your opening hours, and which times are free to book come straight from your workspace — set them up in [Bookings](/bookings). There's nothing to add here, and it's always up to date: change a price and the front desk knows immediately.

## Your website

Point it at your site and it reads your pages, so it can answer what your website already explains — your areas, your policies, how a service works.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add your site">
    Choose **Your whole website** to read every page in your sitemap (`https://yourbusiness.ae/sitemap.xml`), or **One page** for a single address.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Let it read">
    The card shows **Reading…** while it works. It starts answering from each page as soon as that page is read — you'll see *"N answers read so far — your front desk is already using them while it reads the rest."*
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check what it read">
    When it's done the card shows **Ready**, with how many pages it read and how many answers it can quote. Open **Pages and checks** to see every page, and click **Leave out** on any it shouldn't use.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Pages that are just lists of other pages — categories, tags, brands, the cart, checkout, account pages, feeds and numbered archive pages — are left out automatically, because they don't answer questions. They're marked *"Left out automatically — a listing page"*; click **Include** if you want one back.

### How many pages

Your plan sets how many pages of one website it will read: **250** on Starter, **1,000** on Growth and **3,000** on Max. If your site is bigger, the card says how many pages are over the limit. Leave out pages you don't need and the rest get their turn — or move up a plan.

### Keeping it up to date

With **Check for changes every week** ticked, it re-reads your site weekly and picks up anything new or changed. To check now — after you change your prices page, say — click **Check for changes now**. **Recent checks** lists each read and why it ran.

If a check can't finish, the front desk keeps answering from what it read last time, and the card tells you.

| Status | Meaning |
| - | - |
| **Waiting** | Queued to be read. |
| **Reading…** | Reading now — already answering from what it's read. |
| **Ready** | Read and in use. |
| **Ready · checking for changes…** | In use, and checking for updates. |
| **Couldn't read it** | The address didn't work — check it and try again. |

## Your online shop

Connect a WooCommerce shop and it answers about your catalogue and stock from the shop itself, and tells customers where their order has got to. See [Connect your shop](/front-desk-shop).

## Written by you

Anything that isn't on your website:

* **Write it out** — a note in your own words, such as how you handle call-out fees. Give it a name so you can find it later.
* **Questions and answers** — the exact question and the answer you want given.

You can have up to 50 knowledge sources in total.
